Music at KS3:

Music at St. Benedict’s College is fun, inclusive and varied.  Students study two full rotations of music in both year 7 and year 8, covering the following topic areas:

Year 7:

Rotation 1:  The Musical Elements, Keyboard Skills and Music for Radio

Year 7 Production:  Option – Musical Theatre/Art

Rotation 2:   Chords, Ensembles, Singing and Songwriting

Year 8:

Rotation 1:  The Blues, Jazz, Rock ‘n Roll

Rotation 2:  “The Most Amazing Trip Around the World!” and “Music Technology”

All of the units of work integrate performance, listening and appraising skills, along with the requirements of the New National Curriculum.  The music software Sibelius and Sonar are used through the course of KS3.
