Remote Learning & Catch up

Remote Education Provision

A summary of our remote education provision can be found here

COVID-19 Catch Up Premium

We intend to spend our Covid-19 Catch-Up premium for 2020/2021 on…

Subsidising laptops for pupil premium students to ensure all students can access remote learning.

External GCSE examiners to support with the marking and moderation of GCSE mock exam for our November series.

Digital devices for our 2022 GCSE cohort to ensure they are fully prepared for remote learning in the event of further national/local lockdown. The devices will also support the college in sustaining new teaching and learning approaches harnessed during the extended period of remote learning.

A whole-school literacy strategy to ensure all students maintain at least expected progress in terms of reading age, spelling age and vocabulary acquisition. Form time reading strategies, library re-development, and enhanced accelerated reader packages to improve average reading ages are just a few of the approaches we will invest in.

A departmental covid-catch-up fund where each department can bid for resources to support students in catching-up on lost learning. This is already active and a number of interventions and resources across music, PE, English, drama and textiles have already been sourced, purchased with some already being used.

An on-line after-school programme of small group tutoring in English, maths and science. Students will be identified from end of term/assessment data and invited to attend the weekly session that will run for fifteen weeks with specialist teachers.

Well-being resources and interventions. Year 11 were treated to a paint-run as part of the leaver’s events to help create memories and boost well-being. Weekly well-being activities are being run across the college every Monday and Friday during the summer term. Other targeted well-being interventions will be supported via the pastoral team.
