Remote Education Provision
A summary of our remote education provision can be found here
Subsidising laptops for pupil premium students to ensure all students can access remote learning.
Digital devices for our 2023 GCSE cohort to ensure they are fully prepared for remote learning in the event of further national/local lockdown. The devices will also support the college in sustaining new teaching and learning approaches harnessed during the extended period of remote learning as well as preparing students for further education. Where we can, we will also support families who have difficulties with internet access at home.
A whole-school literacy strategy to ensure all students maintain at least expected progress in terms of reading age, spelling age and vocabulary acquisition. Form time reading strategies, library re-development, and enhanced accelerated reader packages to improve average reading ages are just a few of the approaches we continue to invest in.
A departmental covid-catch-up fund where each department can bid for resources to support students in catching-up on lost learning. This is already active and a number of interventions and resources across music, PE, English, drama and textiles have already been sourced, purchased with some already being used.
An on-line after-school programme of small group tutoring in English, maths and science. Students will be identified from end of term/assessment data and invited to attend the weekly session that will run for fifteen weeks with specialist teachers.
We have invested in virtual reality headsets via ClassVR and will work to upskill all teaching staff to help use the headsets to enhance teaching and learning across the college.
Targeted period six provision in English and maths each week with specialist teachers providing tailored tutoring to borderline students based on mock exam results.
Running a diversity week and a performing arts week with a wide array of events including drama performances, workshops run by external companies and guests to help plug the gaps on the type of in-college and extra-curricular activities that our students missed out on due to extended periods of remote learning.
Well-being resources and interventions run via our pastoral team, tutor time and our PSHE curriculum.
