Resistant Materials

Year 7.
Students work with metal to design a single handed tool for a specific purpose, they analyse existing products and develop skills in working with and joining different metals.

Year 8.
Students design a moving toy made from a variety of sustainable materials, they research existing products and start with a basic frame from there they are free to develop their own designs and make it move using a variety of cams to provide different actions.

Year 9.
Students work in groups of 2 or 3 to develop a personal fitness product that can be used to build, tone develop particular muscles without the need to go to a gym.

Year 10 and 11.
Students follow the AQA specification for Resistant Materials, build skills in year 10 to allow them to design and make a product for 60% of their final exam grade the coursework consists of a design portfolio and a physical product that works
