Creative & Performing Arts

The Creative and Performing Arts Faculty is a vibrant and busy facet of the school. We believe in inclusivity and provide manyopportunities for students to broaden their experiences, through a diverse curriculum, extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits.

Brand new facilities have provided our students with a modern environment in which to explore their creativity. The new drama studio, music room and practice rooms have greatly enhanced the learning and motivation of students involved.

In years 7 and 8, students receive the equivalent of 1 hour a week for art, music and drama. This is taught within a rotation, so that students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in each subject, providing greater continuity.

At the end of year 8, students can opt to study for a half-GCSE qualification in art or begin the three year BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts. There is also the option to study GCSE drama in years 10 and 11.

Recent events include a whole school production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, a year 7 production of ‘Seussical the Musical’, performances at Charter Hall and the Headgate Theatre. For more information about our past and future performances, please view our 2008/09 newsletter
