Formal Consultation on Admission Arrangements for September 2019.
In accordance with section 1 [para 1.42] of the School Admissions Code, the Governing Body of St Benedict’s Catholic College, Colchester wishes to consult with stakeholders and the wider community on their proposals to modify their current admission arrangements [please see the attached proposed admissions criteria and supplementary information forms]. It is proposed that these arrangements first apply to applications for admission to Year 7 in September 2019 and to all other applications received during the 2019/20 academic year.
In determining the proposed revisions governors considered the emerging trends in the number of admission applications received on behalf of Catholic students and, having also considered the advice given by the Diocese, determined that a simplified admissions criteria would better suit the needs of parents/carers, the college and the community it serves.
Comments on the proposals to change the admissions criteria and supplementary information forms are invited from all stakeholders, parents/carers of children aged 2-18 and other persons in the local area who have an interest in the proposed arrangements. Formal notification of the Governing Body’s decision, a copy of the admissions criteria and a copy of the consultation summary will be placed on the college’s website no later than February 28th 2018.
Consultation responses should be made in writing to St. Benedict’s, Catholic College, Norman Way, Colchester, Essex, CO3 3US or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The closing date for responses to be received January 29th 2018.
Mrs M Moriarty
Chairman of the Governing Body
